Hello Biology and Life Science CMs,
My name is Sage O'Toole Andersen and I am your Teach For America Virtual Teaching Community Leader. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Integrative Biology in 2010. Immediately after graduation, I flew to Texas to be a part of the San Antonio Charter Corps (2010). While in San Antonio, I taught middle school science for two years and helped to reinvent the middle school science curriculum for my school. Since then, I have moved back to my hometown of Costa Mesa, CA where I simultaneously worked in higher-ed and earned a Master of Science in Biological Sciences and Educational Media Design at the University of California, Irvine. Currently, I am the Assistant Director for the ESCAPE Program, a grant-funded research program at the University of California, Irvine, which aims to train K-12 teachers in methods for integrating arts and science, specifically using inquiry methods integrated with the Visual and Performing Arts (dance and art) to teach science! Biology and Education are two of my biggest passions and I am so excited to be able to bring these two passions together while working with each of you! Best, Sage O'Toole Andersen Virtual Teaching Community Leader, Biology, Teach For America |
